MBC Activities

Our 3 main activities are Surfing, Hiking and Soccer/Football. The activities are weather dependent – so they don’t always take place on the same day each week. Occasionally we surprise the kids by arranging other activities/excursions such as a boat trip to Seal Island in Hout bay, or watching an educational video at the SOS Shark Center in Kalk Bay, or snorkelling and swimming practice in the St James Tidal Pool. Everyday with the kids is guaranteed fun!

Surfing is the kids favourite MBC activity! Our surfing days are facilitated by Learn 2 Surf, a company that represents South Africa’s top surfing instructors. They have a surf school in Muizenberg that provides surfboards, wetsuits, and instructors who teach and develop the children’s surfing skills.

Cape Town is surrounded by the most spectacular nature reserves – there are endless routes and trails that are available to explore. The majority of residents of disadvantage communities never experience these beautiful environments. Our MBC Hiking days are led buy a qualified mountain guide who ensures the safety of our hikers and educates them on the local fauna and flora.

The 2010 soccer world cup hosted in South Africa, was an extremely exciting event for the kids and did wonders to inspire them and boost their love for the beautiful game. Our soccer classes include various fitness and beach exercises as well as mini matches between mixed teams of kids and volunteers.
